We can truly serve when we know how Jesus served us at the Cross - Victor King
We have heard in the body of Christ for many years that we have to serve God with all our heart, mind and soul. We have to go all out to serve God. If we serve God then He will bless us. After we get saved, the next thing is that we must start serving God. If we don't serve God then we are not good Christians.
Nothing wrong with serving God but true service is when you know how He served you first then you would want to serve God with no obligations or being forced to. Let's find out God's way of serving from the Word of Truth.
Nothing could be further from the Truth and when you know the Truth, the Truth will set you free - The Truth of the Gospel of Grace.
Let me share a true story from the Word of God. Its about a Prophet called Isaiah and how God called him to serve and to be one of the Greatest Prophet to prophesy God's Promised Savior who through His death would provide salvation and righteousness for many, atoning for their sins.
How did Isaiah serve God?
In Isaiah Chapter 6 verse 1-4, Isaiah sees the Glory, power and the awesome majesty of God high and lifted up and the angel's singing Praises to Him. Lets follow the story.......
Verse 5. Then I (Isaiah) said, Woe is me! For I am undone and ruined, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!
Isaiah is feeling condemned and unworthy because the Holy and Glorious God has appeared to Him. He feels like he is not even fit to see God.( How much more being called to serve God? )
But God appeared to him not because of how good or bad Isaiah was but God came to him out of His Grace. In the midst of his unclean lips and dwelling, God came to Him. That is the Grace of God. God does not move according to how good or bad we are but He moves according to how Good and Gracious He is. Lets move on........
Verse 6. Then flew one of the seraphim [heavenly beings] to me, having a burning coal in his hand which he had taken with tongs from off the altar. 7. And with it he touched my mouth and said, Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity and guilt are taken away, and your sin is completely atoned for and forgiven.
Interesting...... Who consumed all of God's wrath, judgment and fire of punishment and was burnt for us to save us from our sins, iniquity and guilt? Who became a burning coal for us? Yes! Jesus! Jesus is the picture of the burning coal, a Sacrifice for us.
The seraphim took the burning coal ( Jesus' Sacrifice ) and touched it on Isaiah's lips and told him that his iniquity and guilt are taken away, and his sin is completely atoned for and forgiven. Isaiah heard the Good News!! that he has been forgiven of ALL his guilt, iniquity's and sins. After the seraphim said this, God spoke.......
Verse 8. I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send? And who will go for Us?
Do you know what was Isaiah's answer in verse 8 after hearing the Good News about how his sins, iniquity's and guilt were taken away completely by Jesus???
Remember, this guy, Isaiah was feeling condemned and unworthy when God appeared to Him in verse 5. Do notice the difference in His speech in verse 8.
verse 8. I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send? And who will go for Us? Then I, (Isaiah) said Here am I; send me.
Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!
When He found out that his sins and guilt were taken away completely by Jesus at the Cross, he was excited to serve God. When he found out how God served him on the Cross through Jesus, he could not help himself but to willingly serve the Lord. His tone of speech changed. He was more accepted and confident compared to when the Lord visited him at first in verse 5.
He was so blessed by the Good News that he wanted to be a blessing. We only can truly serve when we know how Jesus served us at the Cross to redeem us from our sins, guilt iniquity's, wrong deeds, thoughts and words.
God is a good God. He wants us to know how He served us first. By knowing that and as the Lord leads, we will want to say the same thing as Isaiah said "Here am I; send me"
" Here I am, I want to serve you Lord not that I have to but I want to "
And you will be bold and confident like Isaiah after hearing the Good News of Jesus. You will not feel condemned and unworthy.
The same Good News that Isaiah heard is the same Gospel we are hearing now and God is still saying the same thing.
" For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawlessnesses I will remember NO MORE "- Hebrews 8:12
" I will not remember their sins and wrong-doings anymore." - Hebrews 10:17
We serve because He first served us.
Its all about His Faithfulness and Grace. Amen and Amen!
