26.But an angel of the Lord said to Philip the ( deacon ) Rise and proceed southward on the road that runs from Jerusalem down to Gaza. This is the desert.
27.So he got up and went. And behold, an Ethiopian, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure, had come to Jerusalem to worship.
This unbelieving Ethiopian came all the way to Jerusalem just to find for this true God to Worship. He must have heard about Jesus.
28.And he was returning, and sitting in his chariot he was reading the book of the prophet Isaiah.
Of all the Chapters in the Bible, he had to read this.
29.Then the Holy Spirit said to Philip, Go forward and join yourself to this chariot.
30.Accordingly Philip, running up to him, heard the man reading the prophet Isaiah and asked, Do you really understand what you are reading?
31.And he said, How is it possible for me to do so unless someone explains it to me and guides me in the right way? And he earnestly requested Philip to come up and sit beside him.
This guy was really hungry for the truth and the True God.
32.Now this was the passage of Scripture which he was reading: Like a sheep He was led to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is dumb, so He opens not His mouth.
33.In His humiliation He was taken away by distressing and oppressive judgment and justice was denied Him [caused to cease]. Who can describe or relate in full the wickedness of His contemporaries (generation)? For His life is taken from the earth and a bloody death inflicted upon Him.
This passage of scripture was taken from Isaiah 53 which speaks about the Finish Work of Jesus Christ. Isaiah 54 tells us the Grace of God because of the Finish Work ( Isaiah 53 )
34.And the eunuch said to Philip, I beg of you, tell me about whom does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else?
35.Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this portion of Scripture he announced to him the glad tidings (Gospel) of Jesus and about Him.
Philip would have told the Ethiopian that the person mentioned in that chapter was Jesus Christ. If you noticed carefully, the Ethiopian eunuch was a Curious person. I'm sure after when Philip told him who the person was, don't you think that he would have asked WHY did this Jesus had to die like this? Think about it....... It says in verse 35...he announced to him the glad tidings (Gospel) of Jesus and about Him.
I'm sure Philip would have told him about the sacrifice, the Finish Work and the death Jesus died for him!. Philip would have told him that Jesus died for all his sins, sickness, diseases, condemnation, guilt, oppression and every curse of the Law. He would have explained him that God does NOT remember his sins and lawless deeds anymore because Jesus took his place of judgment ( Isaiah 53 ) and Gave him the Life of God. And I'm sure Philip would have told him about the Grace of God in Isaiah 54.
36.And as they continued along on the way, they came to some water, and the eunuch exclaimed, See, here is water! What is to hinder my being baptized?
Once the Eunuch heard the (true) Good News, he could not be patient anymore, he wanted to get baptized (This guy would have heard about how people got saved) He must have been so glad that Jesus died for him that he wanted to receive Jesus right away. He would have been thinking if Jesus did all the work then why must he hold back. He heard the Good News!!!!! The sacrificial Finish work of Jesus Christ and the Grace of God ( The undeserved, unmerited, and unearned life of God ) It was a "deal" he could not refuse.
37.And Philip said, If you believe with all your heart [if you have a conviction, full of joyful trust, that Jesus is the Messiah, you may. And he replied, I do believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
That's it!! It's that easy to receive Jesus. Men and their tradition's made it so hard for people to accept Christ. It's easy to receive because it's undeserved. Christ paid everything on the Cross.
38.And he ordered that the chariot be stopped; and both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and [Philip] baptized him.
39.And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly caught away Philip; and the eunuch saw him no more, and he went on his way rejoicing.
Amen!! When you hear the real Good News ( the finish work and the grace of Christ ) you would be rejoicing. The true Gospel makes us to smile, rejoice, be happy and fall in Love more with our Savior when you know that you did not deserve it.
I believe that the eunuch was never the same again. The Grace message from Philip would have changed his life. He would have been a New Creation. He would have fell in love with Jesus. He would have gone back to Ethopia and told everyone he knew about this Jesus.
Many people are trying to preach and share all kinds of " Gospels" to get people saved. Most of their Good News don't sound good. The real Good News makes you wanna jump for joy and rejoice. That's why its called good news, amen. You have just read One of the chapters in the Bible that explained to us what exactly was preached during the early church and what was the real Good News, The Finish Work and the Grace of Christ, this is the true Good News.
Alot of Christians think that this News is too good to be true and that's why Isaiah 53:1 says that " Who has believed our message which was revealed to us? "
Another thing that I realized by the Grace of God is the Eunuch. A eunuch is a castrated human male who are unmasculine. The Eunuch is a Picture of a homosexual! People are trying to tell homosexuals to stop being homosexuals when in the natural they Cannot. Some Christians preach against homosexuals. They bring all kinds do's and dont's and condemn them.
Did noticed that of all the scriptures in the old testament, the Lord Jesus made that eunuch to read Isaiah 53 ( the sacrificial finish work of Jesus Christ ) and He made Philip to go and explain to him about that chapter and the eunuch got saved and went away rejoicing. Thank God the page was not at the Law of Moses but the finish work of Jesus.
Philip preached the finish work and the Grace of Jesus!!!!
Don't tell homosexuals to stop being homosexuals. Tell them the Finish Work and the Grace of Jesus Christ. Christ will know what to do with them with His Holy Spirit. I'm sure the Holy Spirit does a better job, amen.
