Grace is the reflection of the finish work of Jesus - Victor King
For sin shall not [any longer] exert dominion over you, since now you are not under Law [as slaves], but under Grace [as subjects of God's favor and mercy] - Rom 6:14
What a beautiful and powerful verse!
This verse was bought at a price. The Almighty God of heaven had to come down to earth, suffered and died a savagely death just to pay for this verse so that we could have life more abundantly with victory over Sin but sad to say that this wonderful verse has been blinded to many Christians around the world for many, many years.
Sin has always been a very big issue for everyone including Christians.
As sincere Christians we know that sin is bad and destructive. We hate the sight of it. Therefore whenever any sin rises up in our flesh we want to battle it off, sometimes without knowing how.
" Thanks " to the many lacked of knowledge Preachers! Christians have been trying to fight sin in the flesh by themselves. They try to stop sinning by traditions, fasting, sacrificing, punishing themselves, doing good works, confessing their sins, having overnight spiritual warfare, devil fighting, going for sin deliverance, vomiting out their sins or unclean habits, trying to fight every unclean spirit and they do all kinds of nonsense to just to have dominion over theirs sins in deeds, thoughts and words.
For many years, Christians have been using their own Faith to have dominion over the devil, their sins, their unrighteousness and lawless deeds. They become so tired, drained and disappointed because the more they try stop it by themselves the more that sin have power to rule them. They wonder why and start doubting God. Most of them struggle with sin in the secret with GREAT condemnation. They put on a show (behavior modification ) when they are with fellow believers. They have secret lives. They don't want to be exposed of their sin and they live with it thinking that it has dominion over them.
So is the living Word of God a lie?! Is God's hand too short that HE cannot save?! Is the bible a fairy tale book? Did Jesus die for our sins in vain?! Is sin bigger than sacrifice and death of Jesus?! Is devil bigger than God? Is Christianity another man made religion? Is there Power in the Gospel?
Let's go to the Bible, the living Word of God and let the Bible interpret the Bible. You see, God makes it easy, simple and cool for us but with the help of the devil, men makes it so hard. Christianity is the easiest! - Jesus came and died and took all that was negative from us Gave us His own Godly life as a gift. Men makes it so hard with their traditions and wrong understanding of the Gospel.
Jesus told all those who are burdened and heavy laden to come to Him! and He will give them REST. To relax and enjoy.
But because of men's version of Christianity, many people come to Christianity and find themselves more burdened, more heavy ladened and living in sin because of so much of rules and regulations that are based wrong believes and understandings of the Bible.
So how to overcome ( the shadow of ) sin?
I can give you alot scriptures but lets camp at what I call the Key verse to overcome sin. The Good news is big so you can see it (by the Holy Spirit) in different ways. This is one of it.
Lets look at at Romans 6:14 again, it says that sin shall not have dominion over you, since now you are not under Law but under Grace. Have you noticed it does not say that there will be NO sin. It just says that sin will not have its dominion or master over you. And how shall this be? For you are not under law but under Grace.
" There is strength in the covenant of grace for us. Sin shall not have dominion. God's promises to us are more powerful and effectual for mortifying sin, than our promises to God. Sin may struggle in a real believer, and create him a great deal of trouble, but it shall not have dominion; it may vex him, but it shall not rule over him " Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on the Bible
If you are under Grace, sin has no ruling power over you. It will come to you but will not stay for very long. If you under law, sin has power over you and it will be with you for a long time until you turn to Grace.
And how do you turn to Grace? Listen and hear. That's it. Don't have to DO anything. Listen to the Gospel (of Grace). Faith comes by Hearing and hearing the Word of Christ.
Grace? Law?
Grace - ( Father, Son and Holy Spirit ) All of Christ, none of me. Christ Confident and Christ Conscious. Confident in the the blood, the death, the finish work and the Resurrection power of Jesus Christ, the sacrificial lamb of God who took away all of our sins and paid the penalty of our sins. Past! Present! and Future!
Unmerited, Unearned and Undeserved Favor of God.
Law -( Me, myself and I ) All of me none of Christ. Self Confident. Self Deserving. Self Conscious. Confident in the power of self performance, good works and holiness. Rules, regulations and methods. Confident in the negative circumstances than the Saving power of the Cross.
You CANNOT! fight and overcome sin ( in the flesh ) by yourself. You cannot. Don't even try. You, by yourself are not the right opponent to sin. Being under law is trying to fight or overcome Sin in thoughts, deeds and words by yourself. Guess what? The more you try, the more power sin has over you. You've read it in Romans 6:14. The enemy does not give a damn about You. Just by yourself, you have no power over the shadow of sin.
You are only Victorious IN and THROUGH CHRIST. The enemy flees in the Name of Jesus.
Thank Him for the Work that has been done. He paid the power of sins away. It has no power over as long as you are under Grace.
When you have sinned in thoughts, deeds and words, thank God for Cross, where He paid your sins away.Thank Him for the paying for the penalty of sin. Thank Him for taking your punishments. Thank Him for taking your guilt and condemnation. Thank Him for taking your judgments. Just Know that He died for ALL sins and you are the righteousness of God IN Christ Jesus.
Never mind! if it that unclean habit, wrong thoughts, or sinful desires takes 4 months, 1 year or 5 years. Grace is bigger than sin. Keep on listening to sermons on Righteousness in Christ, the finish work of Jesus and the Power of the Blood. Where sin abounds, GRACE MUCH MORE abounds.
The more you see your sins taken away by Jesus, the more that sin will be soon disappearing. The reminding of the Finish Work of Jesus is the rightful opponent to sin.
Whenever the sin tries to make himself powerful but you keep on thanking Jesus for the Cross where He paid your sins away (Grace) and you rest in that, Sin suddenly sees himself stripped of its power. Sin gets reminded of its defeat on the cross. When you are under Grace, Sin sees a reflection of its defeat. Grace is the reflection of the Finish Work of Jesus where He paid your sins (of its power) away!!!!!!! Amen!!!!! The best time to thank Him for the Cross is in the midst of your sins.
Don't fight sin yourself. Its Jesus "job". Even the bible says in Galatians 5:17 that the desires of the flesh are opposed to the Holy Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are opposed to the flesh. Its between Jesus and the flesh. The Spirit battles with flesh not you. Don't have to get yourself all guilty, condemned and defeated when you have sinned but rather rejoice in the Finish Work because He took your place.
The Holy Spirit will help so no worries ya..........
